Surreal Project

I don't like cigarettes. I hate them actually. I made this picture and associated cigarettes into them because I'm trying to tell people 'you aren't the ones smoking the cigarettes, they're smoking you.' I could've made the picture better by using a different background, but I like the originality of it.
I didn't put much thought into this picture. I could've done so much more, but I didn't have many ideas. I could've made the skull look like it was actually part of my head.

I chose the Surreal artist Fred Einaudi. His paintings caught my eye the most because of how morbid they are. I like how he can take a really pretty pictures and turn them into morbid, disturbing things.

Macro
This one I used flash. I'm not exactly sure I like it. It kinda looks like the dead flower is on the spotlight.
This one is more natural, which I must say I like better. It uses all natural lighting which makes the object look more real.
This is a picture of the kitten I got for Christmas and couldn't keep. I put a macro lens on my camera and took this. Not much explanation, I think it could be a lot less blurry.

Emulated Artist

the artist I picked is Rebekka Guoleifsdottir. don't ask me to pronounce that, cuz I really have no idea. I decided to choose her pictures because I like the modernism of them. They aren't too complicated, they don't have way too many colors, they're just simple.
This is one of my good friends Katie Bloom, she acted as my model for the self portrait as my artist.

Digital Montage Numero Uno

I don't exactly know what the theme of this one is, I just thought it looked cool. I pretty much just took a picture of a girl, put it on a green background and put a sweet umbrella behind her head. It took a lot of work, which is why I kept it. The whole thing I was trying to get at was if you dream big, anything can happen.
What should my theme be? What other items could I add to portray the theme I was trying to get at.

My second montage was inspired by my favorite band Owl City. Adam Young, the lead singer is the man with the coffee cup. what I was trying to portray in this picture is that you shouldn't be afraid to think differently then others. I think the tv acting as his face adds abstractness to it.
What could I have done differently? Could I have added more things to blend things easier?

My Camera
To start this thing off, I'm not too good at blogging nor have I ever really done it. My camera model is a Samsung SL30, which I guess is a good camera. It's about 10.2 megapixels, which is better then my mom's very expensive Canon camera.
Ten things I have learned:
1. Never underestimate the price of a camera like this, it may be cheap but it still works the same as any other brand name camera.
2. This camera has an automatic Macro feature in it. This means it can make things brighter and have more contrast, which is good because in my opinion color is what makes the picture.
3. One thing that I learned that I didn't really like at all is that this camera cannot balance on certain objects. Such as tables or the edge of a window. My camera has already fallen many times because it has more round corners then square.
4. On my camera, there are a ton of white balance features. You can adjust it for a sunny or cloudy day. You can adjust it for flourescent lighting in a room and a weird named one called tungsten. I like this feature because sometimes my pictures are way too bright because of the sun, this feature helps to balance it out.
5. In the menu of my camera, there is a resolution feature. Sometimes pictures don't look good because the picture isn't clear enough. Well, depending on how much room you have on your memory card, you can set the resolution very high or very low. Since there are 10 megapixels, a quality picture is almost guaranteed with this feature.
6. One thing that most cameras don't do is automatically focus when you zoom. On my camera, there is a 3x optical zoom feature. This is probably my favorite thing about this camera, cuz no matter what my pictures are always clear.
7. Did you know there are different types of flash features? Me neither. On my camera, there's like seven different flash features. I can't wait to play around with them.
8. The other day I tried taking two pictures within a matter of like three seconds. It didn't work. What I just found out about my camera that I definitley don't like is it takes a good 5 seconds or so for the flash to recharge.
9. In menu thing on my camera, there's a place where you can choose what type of batteries you have so you can make sure your batteries are used effectively.
10. The final thing that I learned about my camera is that I got a really good deal on it. I paid $30 for a $100 or so camera.
I don't have any questions about my camera at all because I know everything I want to know about it. I could care less if it has anymore cool features then the ones I already listed. Those are the only ones I really care about.
